Reading Gomprehension and Test Taking

Posted By: Jay Powell on October 7, 2014

Had you considered looking at the ways students interpret test items as it is related to reading comprehension?
I have strong evidence that item interpretation is an intervening variable between the item writer and the test taker. If this is the case, and the taker is responding to the entire item as interpreted, then counting the frequency of a subset of items (the "right" answers) may be destroying the integrity of these data, invalidating the score provided for further consideration.
