Problem with evidence-based practice

Posted By: Mary Manke on October 26, 2011

This piece, like many in the public press, ignores what happens outside classrooms.
Evidence-based practice with children includes safe home environments, adequate food and sleep, adequate medical care, and strong support for children from homes where a language other than English is spoken. Early childhood programs focused on developing self-control and positive relationships are also essential.

Until we as a nation come to believe this, and act on it, we will continue to see children not learning as they should. It''s simple.
