Especially given the difference between orientations and outlooks of the port cities of England, France, Netherlands, and Italy of a few centuries ago compared to present Beijing and its satellites. |
Yet some "old" analyses are very worthwhile, e.g., Simmel's "Metropolis and Mental Life."
Also, I am puzzled by the selection of the concept of "dynamic" to characterize "capacity". A capacity (a condition or property) in action/implementation may produce a dynamic (process), but they are not the same thing.
