Sometimes you lose friends, sometimes you lose business contracts, and sometimes you lose jobs, as in this case. So be it! It's a free country . . . and each of us is free to risk whatever we have to risk, in order to speak freely.
In this public school employee's case, he was totally out of line, and should have been fired. That's the price you have to pay for our freedom of speech; it's the price our founding fathers paid, and much worse.
In fact, many of them paid with their lives, in many cases. I think almost all of them went broke because of the Revolutionary War. So this guy got off pretty easy.
Anyway, I do wish this fellow well, but I'm glad the system worked and he was given the correct and fair consequence. |
