The dictionary definition of “meliorate” is:
v.tr.
To make better; improve.
v.intr.
To grow better.

Whether Passig has meliorated anything is questionable. If he can point to one student he has taught how to meliorate, and then show that the same instruction has delivered another meliorator, he’d have something. Short of that, Occam’s razor appears applicable to meliorate the article.
