Payne and Pragmatism

I think it would be interesting to look into the ways in which Dewey's idea of the "funded capital" of learning overlaps and differs from the so called - "deficit theory." It would also be very interesting to see how Royce's criticism, in "Metaphysics", of pragmatists fixation on the "Cash value" of ideas individualistically conceived, as opposed to Royce's approach that looks more at the fitness of the bank in precarious situations where a run is a real possibility. That might make the discussion more interesting anyway...
