Principal as leader

Posted By: william Greene on October 18, 2004
As a principal with > 25 years experience, i applaud this article. The notion that all flows so directly from the principal misses the motivational aspect of the principal. If he/she does not empower teachers, they tend to regress towards the middle of the road. Excellence only comes with teacher choice. The standards assume that the principal and or the central office has all the answers. What a joke!

Also, the analysis of the standards that show how unrealistic the expectations are help point out the need for the principal to pick and choose battles and time issues. All standards are not equally important to helping kids learn.

I am glad someone is talking about the emperor's clothes.
