Observations from a candidate

Posted By: Louise Davies on February 24, 2004

My greatest complaint is the lack of feedback for candidates who have not yet reached certification. The board will tell you as part of the re-take process to have someone else read your entry. Unless he or she was an assessor how valid can that commentary be.

As to his point that all certified teachers have doctorates, as my high-school students would say, get a life. How does a doctorate prepare you for teaching at the high-school level? The handful of teachers I know who have doctorates, with a few exceptions are in magnet schools or administration. They are rarely in the trenches with the rest of us.
