Empowerment Models for Interprofessional Collaboration
by Robert L. Crowson - 2003
This chapter discusses an emerging set of models for community empowerment in support of interprofessional collaboration. Just as there is a return to community efforts to reform/improve schools, there is simultaneously a renewed interest in what it means to bring community power to bear in the improvement of practice. Following a brief background section, this chapter evaluates some differences in and the implications of four emerging models of community-based empowerment. The chapter closes with an examination of the potential lessons for professionals working toward collaboration that are embedded within each of the four models.
