While he was almost certainly exaggerating for the purposes of entertainment, Housemans portrayal of the signature pedagogy of the law school classroom was rooted in a particular approach to legal educationthe case study methodto which his students had to adapt or fail. Whether or not the law is (or ever really was) taught the way it is portrayed in this film, it is certainly the case that most academic disciplines have something that approaches a common or at least widely accepted approach to pedagogy.
