Public education reflects accurately, although tardily, general social and economic changes. This is emphatically true of Canada, where almost twenty-two per cent of the total population is to be found in the schools. In a survey of Canadian education of the past ten years one may expect to find a fairly faithful reflection of the common cycle of emergence from postwar depression, unprecedented inflation, sudden collapse and slow, painful stabilization.
