The term child is broadly generic and sometimes serves to erase or obscure important social differences and similarities between persons, some of whom are children, some of whom are not. (p. 3) So begins Babes in Tomorrowland: Walt Disney and the Making of the American Child, 1930–1960, Nicholas Sammond’s (2005) exploration of the complex symbiotic relationship between the evolving conception of the American child and the creation, distribution, consumption, and reproduction of Walt Disney company products.
