The efficacy of our schools affects many aspects of life. Upon the schools is loaded a multitude of responsibilities for the care and development—physical, mental, and moral—of children. It is recognized here that the success of our educational systems is not entirely dependent upon the attitude and performance of professional teachers and other personnel and facilities; to a considerable extent it is dependent upon the attitude of the pupils and their parents toward education, and upon the cultural level of the community in which the school performs its functions.
