DAFINA-LAZARUS STEWART (proper gender pronouns: ze, zim, zir) is Professor and Co-Director of the Student Affairs in Higher Education program in the School of Education at Colorado State University. Dr. Stewart has been a faculty member for 17 years preparing student affairs educators and leaders and previously taught at The Ohio State University, Ohio University, and most recently at Bowling Green State University. An intersectional approach to issues of equity and justice in higher education mobilizes zir research agenda, which centers populations minoritized by ability, ethnicity, gender, race, sexuality, and spirituality. In addition to dozens of book chapters and refereed articles, Dr. Stewart has been the author or editor of three books, most recently Experiences of Black Collegians in U.S. Northern Private Colleges: A Narrative History, 1945–1965 (Palgrave, 2017).
