    MIKE ROSE is research professor in the Social Research Methodology division of the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. His research interests are primarily in the areas of literacy, cognition, and teaching, with more recent publications in the areas of work and cognition, research methodology, and the training of graduate students in education. He is a member of the National Academy of Education and the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Grawemeyer Award in Education. His books include The Mind at Work: Valuing the Intelligence of the American Worker and Back to School: Why Everyone Deserves a Second Chance at Education.
