Pedagogical skills are more effeciently learnt in an education programme than by experience only in most cases. The necessity of the Masters is dependent on the level of the academic environment that one will be working in. A masters is needed, at least in Jamaica, at the tertiary level but is not a prerequisite at the secondary level. One may however pursue their Masters in education for their own satisfaction even if they have no plans to work at the tertiary level. I must say that I beleive that once one has at least a Diploma in education, the Masters does not have to be in Education. |
