Supervising teachers

Posted By: Claudia Khourey-Bowers on April 24, 2003

We are establishing a new teacher education program, and one of the quality issues we are dealing with now is that of the supervising teacher. One qualification that we require is completion of the initial phase of Pathwise Training. Pathwise, the mentoring component of Praxis evaluation, provides a clear framework and expectations that the supervising teacher, student teacher, and cooperating teacher can use as a starting point.

Pathwise is one means, but it is certainly not a magic wand. We also are in the process of developing a consistent pool of ST, who the faculty meet with 1 or 2 times a year, to communicate the goals and culture of the teacher education program.
