philosophy in action

Posted By: Michael Audet on April 21, 2003
I realize it is now 2003 and this message is posted to a discussion that began in 2000. However! There are purposes and beliefs at work in using pre-conference meetings or going in to observe unannounced! Purpose: is the purpose of the unannounced visit to evaluate the lesson , in a summative fashion? Is the purpose of the pre-conference meeting to develop context for observation? Are the two mutually possible? What is the belief about supervision and evaluation that is held by the observer? For more, see Smyth's article cited in this edition.
