alternative route teachers

I work with the Teaching Fellows in NYC and I believe that teaching is a difficult task under any circumstance. However, some Fellows are experiencing difficulties on many levels. I also believe there should be tighter screening of candidates and some schools should not be used as basic training for Fellows. I was a NYC teacher (and I entered through the quick route) and I experienced the reality the Fellows face. Many Fellows are leaving for a variety of reasons but the program will experience constant turn-over unless some basic changes are made. Reforming the
"administrative" side is not the same as reforming the technical core.
