Teacher Learning and Agency

Posted By: Janet Davis on September 29, 2012
This article is particularly important as we engage in defining a new role for teacher evaluation. Teachers have been evaluated by administrators who generally evaluate based on their own beliefs on what is "good" teaching. The conformity script-driven "curriculum" produced a culture where conformity was more important than the results. This was "good" teaching no matter who you students were or whether the scripted program was effective.

Teachers cannot be responsible for the result until they have agency to make choices.
