Is this research or commentary?

I can't believe that this article actually got published.
Did you take the time to actually talk to Payne?
Did you attend any workshops?
Did you interview any teachers or administrators that participated in Payne's workshops?
Did you look at data from districts and schools that have used this framework?
It is clear that the "researchers" in this study came into the work with a clear bias, which itself discredits the article.
At the very least, Payne's work has helped many teachers understand that children of different social classes, and with different upbringings, come to school with different stocks of cultural capital. And that teachers' attention to the diversity of learners is useful.
I honestly cannot believe that this article was published. Wow. |
