Re: Funding reform in public schools

Posted By: Susan Williams on September 16, 2008

Look at the superior academic accomplishments of low-income children who are attending private schools through private scholarship funds, or are in tax-funded public charter schools, vs. their traditional public-school peers. You're wrong: Obama's way would continue the education establishment's monopoly. What we need is free enterprise, and offering disadvantaged parents an opportunity opt out of the public schools if they so desire. Only the pressure of declining enrollment will inspire public schools to get better.
