Bernard Lonergan develops what he refers to as general empirical in his work: Method in Theology (1972) Minneapolis: Winston Press.
General empirical method is a philosophical theory, beginning in a cognitional theory that is insight-based.
See also his work on Insight, A Study of Human Understanding (1958) and reprinted in Collected Works of Bernard Lonergan, Vol 3: Insight (2000). University of Toronto Press.
