I hope educators pay attention. These folks have it right. I wish this reviewer would "get it" that there is no synthesis between phonics and whole language that is going to work. They're diametrically opposed. One works; one doesn't. We need phonics-ONLY reading instruction through at least second grade. It would sharply reduce the number of children who struggle and fail. Please, please wake up to this.
