Change? Where is It?

|From the review and from the publisher's description of the book, the "change" referenced appears to be in a research trend that moves away from the "how to" of teaching students to communicate in written language to "brodaer issues."|
Publisher blurb: "It features a broader focus that goes beyond the classroom teaching of writing to include teacher research, second-language writing, rhetoric, home and community literacy, workplace literacy, and histories of writing."
Perhaps I've missed the point. But if I'm anywhere near close, that's "small change" benefit for 20 years of cumulative research, and certainly nothing to be proud of.
