Read a Post for Two Visions of Education | | Reply to this Post | | Straw Men Don't See Too Good | Posted By: Dick Schutz on January 18, 2006 | | “The means and ends of education are shaped by multiple visions of educational virtue.” Only in our dreams.
The means and ends of education are shaped by the products/protocols used by teachers and other educational caregivers and media the child comes into contact with.
Setting up a straw guy to knock down so that your straw guy looks good begs the question of how to achieve real-life educational aspirations.
Well, that's a little harsh. There is a "vision thing," and belief systems are extremely important in every sector of life. But they are insufficent to achieve means and ends. If visions were horses, all beggars would ride.
