Project based learning

Posted By: Sheri Vasinda on December 16, 2001
I am looking at a form of project based learning as part of my dissertation research beginning Fall 2002. I believe projects to be the application aspect and integration of the "basic fundemental skills". Some schools that I have visited that use projects are the Reggio inspired schools in St. Louis Missouri - the Clayton Family Center, St. Michael's School and the College School. The principal at St. Michael's, Ashley Cadwell, articultes their program philosophy as "1/3 traditional instruction, 1/3 specials, 1/3 projects". That's the sort of mix I wish to initiate and investigate in a Texas public school in the fall.
