Vouchers - Gerald Karas

Posted By: Gerald Karas on June 9, 2004
Why vouchers? It appears that the implementation of school choice and vouchers is an attempt to improve education. What is wrong with the educational system, necessitating such drastic alternatives? Is the cause due to uninterested parents and students? Could the causal factors be due to that of teachers, administrators or educational policy? Is the centralization of education through the Federal Education Department, through political influence and departmental bureaucracy, be contributing to the decline in education in the United States?

The pros and cons as to the effectiveness of the voucher alternatives cannot be adequately addressed until the causes of the decline in education are determined and addressed.
