I do not have any experience in teaching within a prison, but a co-worker of mine actually left public school to go teach in the prison system. She implemented many of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) methodologies (www.avid.org) in her classroom and said that it was perfect because it was brain-based learning at its best. Let me know if you would like even more information on the AVID mehodologies. They are targeted at a more difficult group to teach.
