This test asks the respondent to answer twenty times the question (addressed to herself) Who am I? The answers are then coded into four categories. Category-A answers describe physical attributes, such as I am six feet tall, I am dark, I am 28, I live in Austin. Category-B answers describe social roles, such as I am a student, I am a husband, I am a taxpayer, I am a writer. Category-C answers describe styles of behavior or preference, such as I am a happy person, I like football, I am lonely, I am a searching person. Category-D answers describe comprehensive states of mind, such as I am alive, I am a part of the cosmos, I am a person, I am in time and space.
