The Junior College from the Standpoint of the University

DURING the month two great universities have had occasion to commemorate the passing of the years—Johns Hopkins which has completed five notable decades and Western Reserve which has rounded out a century.1 One was founded in an old and well-developed center of culture, rich in traditions of American life; the other was part of the great western frontier, growing as it grew, moving as it moved, becoming as it has become—a center of diversified, virile life. Although separated by a thousand miles and the span of fifty years, both of these institutions in the year 1926 direct their attention to the future of the first two years of college life.
