This book considers the area of teaching from the point of view of principles and methods to be used by persons engaged in instructing students in nursing. Its contents are organized into the following six units: basic considerations for teaching in the school of nursing; activities contributing to effective learning; planning; organization and direction of learning activities within the nursing curriculum; methods of teaching; use of audio-visual materials and evaluation of learning and teaching. The chapter devoted to "Philosophy, Aims, and Objective" is a concrete presentation of how a philosophy of life influences educational objectives and process. The author presents four of the major philosophies extant in American education and, using one of the four, attempts to point out how the influence of a philosophy of life affects a philosophy of nursing and nursing education.
