College News and Departmental Notes: Elementary Education

by Departmental notes - 1922

During this school year several members of the staff of the department of elementary education and a number of the students in the department have visited the schools of Winnetka, Ill. The plan of individual instruction in operation in Winnetka has been discussed in the major professional course, and some of the Winnetka materials of instruction have been examined. During the week beginning March 27 the students of the department had the privilege of listening to several very instructive messages from Superintendent Carleton Washburne of Winnetka. He also spoke to the teachers of the Horace Mann School. Dr Washburne's appearance here is in accordance with the plan of the department of elementary education to bring to the major professional course those who are doing active work in the field.
