Professor David Eugene Smith delivered his presidential address before the Mathematical Association of America at the meeting held at Wellesley College on September 7. The address is published elsewhere in this number. Professor Smith attended the meeting of the National Committee on Mathematical Requirements, September 3 to 5, and the meeting of the Commission on Mathematics of the College Entrance Examination Board on September 6. His address on "Computing Jettons" was published by the American Numismatic Society in October. He gave the commencement address at the State Normal School at Cortland, N. Y., in June.
