College News and Departmental Notes: Educational Administration

Professor George D. Strayer will give his whole time during the current year to the direction of an inquiry concerning the financing of American public education. A commission whose membership includes Professor E. P. Cubberley, Leland Stanford University, California; Chancellor E. C. Elliott, University of Montana, Helena, Mont.; Dr. Thomas E. Finegan, state superintendent of public instruction, Pennsylvania; Professor R. M. Haig, specialist in taxation, Columbia University; Mr. Victor Morawetz, attorney-at-law; Professor H. C. Morrison, University of Chicago; and Mr. Herbert S. Weet, superintendent of schools, Rochester, N. Y., has been placed in charge of the inquiry. Professor Strayer has been made the chairman of this commission and the director of the investigation.
