With the current newspaper headlines announcing the vast numbers of suicides among college students and the issues of drugs and general campus unrest in the news, this volume by Dana L. Farnsworth, Henry K. Oliver Professor of Hygiene and Director of the University Health Services at Harvard University is certainly timely. Dr. Farnsworth, who is a psychiatrist, has built the book upon the Thomas W. Salmon Lectures which he delivered at the New York Academy of Medicine in 1964. He has worked with college students for thirty years and is the foremost authority in a field known as "educational psychiatry." His chapter headings depict the array of issues with which he deals, ranging from "Psychiatry's Role in Higher Education," and "Administrative Aspects of College Psychiatry," to problem areas, such as "Suicide," "Dropouts," "Drugs," "Student rootlessness and restlessness," and "Sexual morality—the dilemma of the colleges."
