The Czechoslovak Republic, consisting of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, and Sub-Carpathian Russia, was organized on the overthrow of the Austria-Hungarian Empire, October 28, 1918. One of the first tasks undertaken by the new Republic was the reconstruction of the educational system and the removal of injustices and inequalities.
