THE FANATICAL DEVOTION OF NAZI and Fascist youth to the social philosophies of their countries is in striking contrast to the relatively lukewarm and indifferent attitudes of young people in democratic nations. For one hundred fifty years democracy has taken its own ultimate triumph for granted. Even the hazard of the first World War was only a momentary cloud on democracy's otherwise rosy horizon.
