Toward the American Commonwealth
by Norman Thomas - 1938
Throughout 1938, the Editors of THE SOCIAL FRONTIER plan to include in each number a fresh authoritative statement of some important proposal for social change in the United States. Each contributor to this series has been asked to indicate the objectives toward which his particular movement is directed, the procedures by which its advocates intend to get there and the place of the school and other educational agencies in these activities. Teachers should find this series helpful in increasing their understanding of the major programs that have been developed for the better organization of our national life.
