Economists Adrift

by Ferdinand Lundberg - 1936

THE confusion in the field of economic study is great and there are definite historical and social reasons for it. Before attempting explanation it is well to review the pronouncements of certain popular economists, whose views, indeed, enjoy the very widest acceptance. The pronouncements have been chosen because they are typically at variance with established facts, sometimes obviously so, at the very time of their promulgation. The quotations seem to justify the ordinary man in his skepticism toward economics, but only partially. It is hoped that the explanation which follows will somewhat clarify the existing situation in economic study.
