This study represents an attempt to answer two questions: To what extent does the relative efficiency of the reader vary as he changes from algebraic reading matter to non-algebraic reading matter and from one type of algebraic reading matter to another? What is the relationship between achievement in reading various types of algebraic and non-algebraic reading matter and achievement in algebra?
