California State University, Bakersfield E-mail Author BRE EVANS-SANTIAGO, Ed.D. (she/her/hers), is an Assistant Professor at California State University, Bakersfield in the Teacher Education Department. She is also the community engagement coordinator for CSUB, and an advisor for the LGBTQ+ student organization on campus. She taught PK-8 for 15 years in San Bernardino and LaCanada, CA, Washington, DC, and Bloomington, IL. Identifying as a Black cisgender queer woman, She utilizes intersections from her positionality (Black, Queer, cisgender female) to research culturally sustaining pedagogy for underrepresented populations and to provide social justice professional development for teachers across California. Her recently published text Mistakes We Have Made: Implications for Social Justice Educators provides a foundation for her current work.
