    BRENDA BRAND is an associate professor in science education at Virginia Tech. Recent publications include "Applying Actor-Network Theory to Identify Factors Contributing to Non-Persistence of African American Students in STEM Majors" and "Inquiry By Engineering Design." My current projects are "Actualizing STEM Potential in the Mississippi Delta" and "Virtual Expedition to Ghana Robotics Camp." Both projects are aimed at transforming the STEM identities of underserved and underrepresented youth by immersing them in robotics applications in real world contexts that position them as contributors and problem-solvers in their communities and globally.
