    PENNY BISHOP is a professor of middle grades education at the University of Vermont. Her research and teaching focus on improving education for young adolescents. She is former chair of both the American Educational Research Association's special interest group on Middle Level Education Research and the Association for Middle Level Education's Research Advisory Board. Her work has appeared in journals such as Educational Action Research, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Middle Grades Research Journal, Research on Middle Level Education, Educational Leadership, and Middle School Journal. She is co-editor of Middle Grades Review and principal investigator of the Tarrant Institute for Innovative Education. Her latest co-authored book is Personalized Learning in the Middle Grades, forthcoming from Harvard Education Press.
