    ALICIA L. JOHNSON is a visiting assistant professor of instructional design and technology in the School of Education at Virginia Tech. Her teaching and research interests focus on self-efficacy and instructional design within distance education contexts. Alicia earned her PhD in 2017 from Virginia Tech in Curriculum and Instruction (Instructional Technology), MS in 2012 from Wilkes University in Education (Educational Media), and BA in 2002 from Mary Washington College in English Literature. Her recent writing includes the paper "Reaching Southwest Virginia’s Gifted and Talented Students Through Asynchronous Online Courses: Lessons Learned" (in progress, with M. Robinson) and the chapter "Self-Efficacy Research in Online Learning" (with B. Lockee) in Self-Efficacy in Instructional Technology Contexts (2018).
