Old Dominion University E-mail Author SHANAN CHAPPELL, Ph.D., currently serves as Associate Director for Quantitative Analytics and Research Assistant Professor in The Center for Educational Partnerships at Old Dominion University. She is also serving as Research Fellow in the National Dropout Prevention Center at Clemson University. She currently serves on nearly $28 million in externally funded educational research projects. Her research experience includes educational policy studies, early childhood projects, middle school math initiatives, STEM studies, military child and family educational issues, and projects focusing on college and career readiness. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and technical reports, including publications in the Journal of Education for Students Placed at Risk, Preventing School Failure, Research in Science Education, and Online Learning. Dr. Chappell lives in coastal northeast North Carolina with her husband and their two daughters.
