Comments on the Yearbook from the Psychological Point of View by Frank N. Freeman - 1932The present Yearbook makes an important contribution to the teaching of science and will stand as one of the landmarks in the field, along with earlier committee reports. It is noteworthy for a number of reasons. In the first place, it has undertaken to develop a unified plan for the teaching of science from the beginning of the elementary school to the college. In the second place, it has proposed a thorough reorganization of the objectives and character of science work in the school, and has attempted to apply this reorganization systematically throughout the school. Finally, it has taken cognizance of scientific investigations and of psychological theory and has attempted to make use of fact and theory in working out its plan. All this represents an ambitious undertaking, and the results of the Committee's labors will serve as a center of discussion and of reorganization for some time to come.To view the full-text for this article you must be signed-in with the appropriate membership.
