The notorious indifference and neglect of this subject by otherwise earnest and thoughtful people who desire the common welfare must be largely due to the general ignorance of the damage which the nation suffers from the various forms of sexual vice. The attitude of the unclean is easily explained; they are ready to sacrifice others and themselves to appetite and lust, and they become deaf to argument and appeal in consequence of the debasing influence of immoral indulgence and corrupting companionships.
