Research in Vocational Education

by George L. Brandon & Rupert N. Evans - 1965

Research is a quest for new knowledge or for a more useful interpretation of facts which are already known. Research of any type can be classified under one or more of the categories appearing in Table 1, which also presents examples of types belonging to each category and drawn from two fields of specialization. This chapter, since it is concerned with research in vocational education, will discuss only types 3, 4 5, and 6, as presented in Table 1. We must recognize, however, that unless the results of research types 1 and 2 are known to our researchers, their work will be seriously handicapped and may be completely worthless.
