Evaluation and the Award of Scholarships

Scholarships, like virtue and decency, are generally favored, even though few agree on precisely what they are. For the purposes of this discussion, a scholarship is an award made to a student for outstanding attainment of some type in the intellectual or performance fields. Typically, the attainment is believed to predict success in some aspect of desired college behavior. The scholarship usually, but not always, carrieswith it a grant of money to aid.the recipient in financing his college education.
